Halfway through the FAIRCHAIN project!

fairchain
The FAIRCHAIN project is halfway, first report was submitted, and we organized our second Annual meeting held by Ghent University in Kortrijk, Belgium!  What a pleasure to see partners physically and take time for fruitful discussion!

Work has been intense in these last months. The development of the assessment framework, generic and customizable to each case study, was challenging and created excellent collaboration between ‘methodology partners’ and ‘case study teams’.  The baseline for each value chain of the 6 FAIRCHAIN case studies is now described, and main hotspots identified for each of them. Technological, organizational, and social innovations are still under development. As examples, the first vinegar batches were produced, the first fermented whey-based drinks were tasted, the ICT platform for trustworthy traceability information on  Feta cheese production was launched.

In parallel, collaboration with other European projects funded under RUR-06 and RUR-07 calls is increasing. The Sustainable Food System Innovation Platform, co-managed with CO-FRESH, is ready to welcome and gather innovations.

All this work aims at one target: the transition to more sustainable food value chains.

The EFFoST conference (Dublin, 7-9 Nov 2022) will soon host a special session chaired by FAIRCHAIN on Innovations for food producers and food SMEs: How to encourage putting innovations into practice. A nice opportunity to share the main results obtained so far !
Continue to follow us on LinkedInFacebook and Twitter and through our FAIRCHAIN website to be kept informed !
