The location of the STLO research unit in Western France coincides with the main production and processing sites of our two study objects, namely milk and eggs.

This ideal economic environment also benefits from an committed scientific fundation with respect to research and higher education.

Rennes, the regional capital, and nearby cities offer two universities, several higher institutes of education such as AGROCAMPUS OUEST and INSA, and various research centres such as INRA (the French National Institute for Agricultural Research), CNRS, IRSTEA, Anses and other research organisations.

With this background, it was natural that the Valorial group, which designs the food of tomorrow, was established in Rennes.
