Teaching

SMART research contributes to the analysis and evaluation of public policies applied to agriculture, the agri-food sector and the environment. In this way, research carried out in the two research axes feeds the training provided by the Economics Department of Agrocampus Ouest.

Teaching and research teams are indeed involved in two training programmes:

  • Engineering degree in Agricultural and Resource Policies and Markets (POMAR "Politique et Marchés de l’Agriculture et des Ressources")

This training programme provides courses dealing with the economic analysis of markets, the behaviour of actors and public policy in the fields of agriculture, sea, the environment and food. The programme is intended for students interested in the economic development in the Northern and Southern countries, the environment and the sustainable management of natural resources, and also the management of agricultural markets, whether physical or financial. The degree includes training in quantitative techniques and in economic and bio-economic modelling.

  • Master of Sciences in Applied Economics: Agriculture, Sea, Environment (E2AME "Agriculture, Mer, Environnement")

The Master of Sciences in Applied Economic: Agriculture, Sea, Environment, is offered jointly by AGROCAMPUS OUEST and University Of Bretagne Occidentale (UBO).

The Master proposes courses in economic analysis applied to the sectors of agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, to the environment, to the food supply chain, to the territories as well as to the issues specific to developing countries. The Master aims at developing skills in economic analysis and in public and private regulatory tools that could be used to investigate issues dealing with resource access and use, positive and negative externalities, and economic production activities using natural resources (resource extraction, tourism, land use, pollution, etc).

Both degrees are intended to promote, through research and expertise, conceptual and methodological development necessary to the inclusion of economic reasoning in the policy decision process.
